We did it! It wasn’t easy, and we had to work hard, but we did it. For the second year in a row, one of USIA’s products won the Fish Alaska Editors’ Choice award. Last year it was for our innovative Diver Armor, and this year our versatile and rugged BRUSH BANDIT won an award in the Bags, Backpacks, Cases and Storage category. It’s a great honor, and we are truly indebted to the wonderful writers and testers for their time. The most gratifying part of being selected is knowing how much gear is out there to choose from. The competition is fierce, so we at USIA are genuinely privileged.
A Little about Fish Alaska Magazine
Called “The Magazine of Fishing the Greatland,” Fish Alaska Magazine is a one stop shop for all things fishing in, you guessed it, Alaska. With features on topics varying from Saltwater, Fly Fishing, Freshwater, Ice Fishing, Tactics, Gear, Conservation, and much more, it’s a publication that any dedicated outdoor enthusiast can get lost for hours in, not just those in Alaska. Also in the magazine are a host of different informational, educational and just plain fun articles, pictures, and a resource for you to plan and schedule a trip to the north. In addition to the annual Gear Guide (which is extensive), the magazine publishes regular features that are valuable to every fisher of every skill level.
A Little about the Annual Gear Guide
From Fish Alaska: “After another year in the field, Fish Alaska’s editors have returned with their reviews on a full range of equipment, putting everything from tents and camp stoves to fly rods and waders through the Alaska gauntlet…the Fish Alaska staff loves reporting on that testing because it means passing along everything we’ve learned over the past year—things that will help you be more comfortable, more efficient, and more productive on the water.”
A Little about the Brush Bandit Pack
Extremely versatile and built to last, the Brush Bandit is water-resistant/repellent and uses 200D series polyurethane coated interior fabric. It features a water-resistant polyurethane coated zipper and exterior pocket and vulcanized seams that prevent water from entering. The exterior is constructed of 1000D Cordura® with Fastex clips and strap system for connecting to Alyce. It’s hydration system compatible with a pouch large enough to hold a 100 oz. reservoir and a front pocket large enough for a survival kit, first aid kit, MRE’s, or immediate reach kit. With a water resistant polyurethane coated zipper, the interior contents will remain DRY as long as the bag is NOT SUBMERGED.
This is what Fish Alaska said about the Brush Bandit:
The Brush Bandit is a tough, weather resistant pack that is just the right size for a multitude of uses. Our tester abused this pack on a remote, weeklong float and several shorter forays into the bush. Although not designed to be submersible, none of our tester’s gear in the main compartment got wet on that trip. The pack can be used as a carry-on as well, so you can stuff all your expensive reels and other small, valuable items into it on your way to your next adventure. The Brush Bandit will be equally at home as a day-pack for hunting moose as it is for a hike up to the grayling at Crescent Lake.
We at USIA would like to extend our most sincere thanks to Fish Alaska Magazine and it’s fine editors for recognizing quality craftsmanship when they see it!
